Pitching In: Week 2

10 Must-Start Pitchers for Week 2:

C.J. Wilson (@ HOU / vs. NYM)
Tony Cingrani (@ STL / vs. TB)
Scott Kazmir (@ MIN / @ SEA)
Hiroki Kuroda (vs. BAL / vs. BOS)
Tim Hudson (vs. ARI / vs. COL)
Charlie Morton (@ CHC / @ MIL)
Kyle Kendrick (vs. MIL / vs. MIA)
Gio Gonzalez (vs. MIA / @ ATL)
Max Scherzer (@ LAD / @ SD)
Felix Hernandez (vs. OAK)

The key to a must-start pitcher isn’t just that he has two starts in a given week. It’s all about momentum and opponent. With pitchers like Adam Wainwright, Zack Greinke, and Cliff Lee, it should be a given that they should start for you, even though none of them gets two starts this week.

5 Recommended Relievers for Week 2:

1. Greg Holland (KC)
2. Craig Kimbrel (ATL)
3. Kenley Jansen (LAD)
4. Steve Cishek (MIA)
5. Jose Valverde (NYM)

With Bobby Parnell out for the rest of the season, Valverde is the guy in New York, and he’s available on a lot of waiver wires. Pick him up and start him this week in your reliever slot. Also grab a hold of Matt Lindstrom (CHW), or Sergio Santos, who are also highly available and are in line for good possible saves this week, and into next.

  1. I am going to have to pay more attention to your baseball posts. I am not ready to do a full fantasy baseball, but my brother has me going on the 56 game hitting streak challenge that MLB fantasy does. I can do something like that–and still be 100% to keep track of all the fantasy football notes this off-season.

    • Fantasy baseball takes so much energy I understand why you would only do the 56 game hitting streak challenge. The full season is a commitment but worth it in the end. But it isn’t for everyone.
