Fantasy Ace-Stars

Since the MLB all-star teams have just been announced I thought it would be fun to do something similar with the fantasy all-stars, those players who have carried your fantasy teams so far through this half season, and who you’re hoping will see you through to the fantasy playoffs. So, without any further ado, here are my fantasy ace-star teams, National and American Leagues…

Catcher – Jonathan Lucroy (MIL)
1st Base – Paul Goldschmidt (ARI)
2nd Base – Anthony Rendon (WAS)
3rd Base – Todd Frazier (CIN)
Shortstop – Troy Tulowitzki (COL)
Outfield – Giancarlo Stanton (MIA)
Outfield – Andrew McCutchen (PIT)
Outfield – Carlos Gomez (MIL)

Starting Pitcher – Adam Wainwright (STL)
Starting Pitcher – Johnny Cueto (CIN)
Starting Pitcher – Julio Teheran (ATL)
Starting Pitcher – Zack Greinke (LAD)
Starting Pitcher – Clayton Kershaw (LAD)
Starting Pitcher – Kyle Lohse (MIL)
Relief Pitcher – Francisco Rodriguez (MIL)
Relief Pitcher – Craig Kimbrel (ATL)

Catcher – Salvador Perez (KC)
1st Base – Edwin Encarnacion (TOR)
2nd Base – Jose Altuve (HOU)
3rd Base – Josh Donaldson (OAK)
Shortstop – Alexei Ramirez (CHW)
Outfield – Mike Trout (LAA)
Outfield – Michael Brantley (CLE)
Outfield – Jose Bautista (TOR)
Designated Hitter – Victor Martinez (DET)

Starting Pitcher – Felix Hernandez (SEA)
Starting Pitcher – Masahiro Tanaka (NYY)
Starting Pitcher – Scott Kazmir (OAK)
Starting Pitcher – Max Scherzer (DET)
Starting Pitcher – David Price (TB)
Starting Pitcher – Garrett Richards (LAA)
Relief Pitcher – Koji Uehara (BOS)
Relief Pitcher – Greg Holland (KC)

It’s interesting to me to compare the fantasy leaders with the players who were voted into the all-star game by the fans. Obviously sentimental value plays a large role in a player like Derek Jeter, and carryover value of a perennially good player like Robinson Cano, being voted to start in the all-star game, things that belie the fact that neither is the best at their position based on the numbers.

If you are lucky enough to have a proliferation of these ace-stars on your team at this moment, you probably have a dynamic record in your fantasy league. Just hope they stay healthy and you should have a good run through your league’s playoffs.
