Week 9 is usually the point where it starts getting really interesting in survival leagues because not only do you have to contend with trying to pick one team that will win, but you also have eight teams you can’t choose from, AND six teams are on a bye. Luckily there are options to help you out.
Here’s to Surviving…
CINCINNATI vs. Jacksonville. So, this one seems obvious. The game is in Cincinnati, the Bengals have righted the ship, and, hell, they’re playing Jacksonville. Oh, and they get A.J. Green back. I like Cincinnati to win by two touchdowns in this one, even though I think Denard Robinson will go over 100 yards again for the Jaguars.
KANSAS CITY vs. NY Jets. Michael Vick starts in this one, but if the offensive line is the same as it’s been he’ll be seeing a lot of turf instead of seeing his receivers. The Chiefs play tough at home, as well, and that’s where this game is, with the crowd noise and the homefield advantage intact. Kansas City will keep their win streak alive, and the Jets will continue to look toward the draft.
SEATTLE vs. Oakland. Yes, Seattle hasn’t played very well as a team of late, dropping two of the last three games, but the salve for all ills is Oakland, and for Seattle it’s still playing at home. The defense will step up in this one and take care of a young Oakland team that doesn’t match up well on either side of the ball.
Tampa Bay @ CLEVELAND. Yes, they came through last week, but this is the same team that is the only loss to Jacksonville this year, and that means I’m not trusting them, even against an inept Tampa Bay team that can’t seem to compete with anyone lately. This is a home game for Cleveland, so that should give them another major advantage as well, but I just don’t see it happening. It’s a trap in all facets. Avoid this game like the plague.
